Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Curious Kite (curiouskite.ca) is registered in Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can, and we never sell it.

What we collect

When you buy something: your name, email address, billing address and what you bought. Your card details go straight to our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number.

When you create an account: your email address and a password, which is stored in scrambled form so that no one, including us, can read it. Your account also keeps your order history so you can download your files again.

When you use a family account: for each child you add, the first name or nickname you choose and their year (for example JK or SK). When you record what you noticed during an activity, we keep that record: the week and activity, what you saw (Tried it, With help, On their own, or Used it somewhere new), where you saw it if you tell us (on paper, on screen or in everyday life), the learning goal it belongs to, any note you add, and the date. We also remember which week’s page you used last, so your family page opens there.

When you sign up for the Weekly Quest or another email: your email address, and which page or form you signed up from, so we know which free resources are most useful. If you use the Quest Planner, we also keep the grade band you chose (for example “Grade 3 or 4”), so we can send activities at a useful level.

When you download a free resource: your email address, so we can give you the file. We only add you to the Weekly Quest if you tick the box to ask for it. You can unsubscribe from any email.

When you email us: whatever you choose to include in your message.

When you visit the site: like most websites, our server and security tools record basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. We use this to keep the site running and to block attacks, not to identify you.

From children: nothing. Children never type anything into our activities, and our games and activities don’t save anything a child taps. (Parents can tell us a few things about their child; see Children, below.)

How we use it

  • To process your order, deliver your files and send your receipt.
  • To let you download your files again from your account.
  • To send activities at a useful level, if you’ve told us your child’s grade.
  • To show you your child’s progress and make a report when you ask for one, if you keep records in a family account.
  • To send the emails you signed up for, and nothing else.
  • To answer your questions and fix problems.
  • To keep the site secure.
  • To keep the business and tax records the law requires.

We don’t sell, rent or trade your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers we need to run the site, and only what each one needs to do its job:

  • Payments: WooPayments, powered by Stripe, processes your payment.
  • Email: Systeme.io stores our email list and sends the Weekly Quest.
  • Hosting: WHC hosts the website and its store, including family account records, on servers in Canada. We don’t send family account records to any other company.
  • Fonts: some pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
  • Videos: if a page shows a YouTube video, YouTube may set its own cookies when you play it.

Some of these providers store information outside Canada, including in the United States and Europe, where it’s protected by their own privacy commitments and local laws. We may also share information if the law requires it.

Children

Our activities are made for children, and children don’t give us any information. The activities don’t ask for a name, don’t create a profile, and don’t save anything a child does. Accounts, email sign-ups and downloads are for adults.

We may hold a little about a child, and only what a parent gives us:

  • Their grade, if you tell us. You can choose a grade band in the Quest Planner or in a welcome email. We keep it with your email address so we can send activities at a useful level. You can skip it and nothing changes.
  • In a family account: the first name or nickname and year you give for each child, and the records you choose to make about their learning. We use these only to show you your child’s progress.

We never ask for a child’s surname, birthday, photo, school or address, and we don’t build a profile of them. You can download or delete any of it at any time (see Your choices).

If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use only the ones the site needs to work: to keep items in your cart, keep you logged in, and protect the site from attacks. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. If you play a YouTube video on one of our pages, YouTube can set its own cookies.

How long we keep it

  • Order records: as long as tax law requires, which in Canada is generally six years.
  • Your account: until you ask us to close it.
  • Email sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.
  • A child’s grade: kept with your email subscription, and removed when you ask us to delete your information.
  • Family account records: until you delete them or close your account. Deleting a child, or your account, deletes their records.
  • Emails you send us: as long as we need them to help you.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from any email with the link at the bottom of it.
  • Family records: if you have a family account, download your child’s records as a spreadsheet, or delete a record or a child with all their records, at any time from your family page. Closing your account deletes them all.
  • See, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing us. We’ll reply within 30 days. Some order records must be kept for tax reasons even after an account is closed.
